Mixed-media. Oil pastel sunflowers from my sketchbook done in the car around 2013-14.
After Ukraine was attacked early 2022, I scanned my original page and printed copies on a variety of paper. I spent weeks hand-cutting sunflowers.
These 3 paper sunflowers are fixed to a large sample of dried acrylic paint in swirling dark red and thick cracking blue.
5x13 inch upcycled rectangle frame in light wood. I added translucent yellow arrow tape to indicate the unending cycle of war.
When I feel helpless, I create. This piece was born from horror at the deeds of men.
